Larsen Marine TS LLC is a full-service marine center looking for motivated people to join our team of the best marine professionals serving both power and sailboat enthusiasts on the Great Lakes. Larsen Marine is one of the largest yacht service and storage facilities on the Great Lakes, storing and servicing more than 1,000 boats annually and providing service from our 75-slip basin and from harbors between Milwaukee and Chicago.

We are looking for mechanics, electricians, paint and fiberglass technicians, and yard crew members to join the team. We also offer apprenticeships for these roles, so if you are interested, come and learn the trades with us! If you have a great attitude and enjoy variety in what you do day-to-day, as well as an aptitude for any of these trades, we might be a great fit for you to learn and grow.

Below are details regarding current openings:

Mechanics:

We have diesel, outboard, and sterndrive focus, but we are looking for techs that are willing to learn any of these to help where the need may be. Our techs are certified by the OEM’s in several facets of marine propulsion.

  • Diagnose and repair marine gasoline and diesel engines
  • Stern drive and transmission repair and replacement
  • Diagnose and repair 120V and 12V systems and generators
  • Winterize/summerize boat engines and systems

Electricians:

Larsen Marine has one of the highest credentialed electricians in the entire marine industry. We want to grow this area and provide more access to customers.

  • Diagnose and repair electronic systems
  • Marine electronic installation
  • Wire routing and instrument placement
  • Customer facing, demonstrate usage

Paint and Fiberglass Technicians:

We have thousands of hours every year in various parts of the boat’s appearance. We routinely repair fiberglass, wood trim, paint and more. Many boats in storage can show the skill of our work.

  • Gelcoat/paint repair
  • Fiberglass repair
  • Detailed woodworking and carpentry repair
  • Aesthetic finishes

Yard Crew:

We have heavy equipment, to include cranes, that require steady skill and attention to detail. Each boat is different, so the level of care is as important as any other trade.

  • Operate heavy equipment such as fork trucks, tractors, work boats, etc.
  • Operate boats with care and consideration
  • Transport boats through parking lots and buildings, park and travel with caution and care
  • Rack boats on cradles
  • Pressure wash boat hulls

Sailboat Rigger:

The Sailboat Rigger’s responsibility is to perform the duties below related to rigging sailboats on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements.

  • Step and unstep masts
  • Tune standing rigging
  • Rig sailboats masts and run rigging including installing hardware
  • Connect and troubleshoot mast lights and wiring
  • Install booms and sails
  • Service winches and furling systems both manual and electrical
  • Service lifelines, lifeline gates, and deck hardware
  • Perform minor carpentry and painting on an as-needed basis
  • Operate sailboats, lift trucks, hydraulic trailers, travel lift hoist, mast crane, and work boat
  • Make up to specification new rigging
  • Move and launch boats, deliver boats port to port, check and safely secure boats moored at our docks
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent

Parts & Accessories Sales Associate:

The Parts & Accessories Sales Associate’s responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements.

  • Assist all customers and technicians in purchasing needed parts and supplies
  • Issue parts and accessories to technicians or boat sales department
  • Plan and initiate seasonal parts specials and leader items for promotion of retail parts sales
  • Establish and promote customer relations to attract over-the-counter sales
  • Maintain inventory levels and restock retail displays
  • Maintain an accurate up-to-date parts purchase control system and back-order file. Follow up on back orders daily
  • Continually update prices in computer system
  • Process the filing, invoicing, and shipping of parts orders in a timely manner
  • Maintain price books and catalogs by inserting changes immediately as received
  • Process the receipt of parts and accessories and verify with the order and stock
  • Initiate warranty claims
  • Maintain an environment of organization and cleanliness
  • Other retail responsibilities not exclusive to parts
  • Identify obsolescence and seek ways to recover costs and reduce
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent

Detailer:

A Detailers responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company performance and safety requirements.

  • Ability to buff, wax, clean, and grind
  • Ability to scrape, sand, and paint with a brush and roller
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and small power tools
  • Follow safety rules and keep a neat work area
  • Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills and abilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent
